Snow is a complex novel that has fear and threat as its foundational traits. At the same time, it depicts the resistance of love and life against the former. In the struggles between love and fear, and also life and threat, love and life are eventual winners. This victory is symbolized by a statue of a couple that go back to life, and become human again.
