Book About:
The magic lamp goes to meet Mohammad Reza Shah, the last Iranian king. The king sits at a table reading a few papers. He has not worn the regalia, instead of sports a white short-sleeved shirt. He is sad why his military forces and prime ministers cannot calm the protesting people. He tries to calm the situation by changing the prime ministers and giving people more freedom. He is forced to flee the country with his family. First, he goes to Egypt and his old friend Anwar el-Sadat. Then he goes to other countries to escape the arm of the law and the people. On the other hand, his chronic illness is getting worse every day. In the end, he is forced to take refuge in Panama Island. The king’s ordeal becomes more and more complex. In despair, he waits for even darker days. The Shah finally dies and his body gets buried in Al-Rifa’i Mosque in Egypt.
The novel Two Tales of a Photo deals with the final days of Reza Shah’s life in exile and the last days of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi’s life. The father and son share homelessness and wandering at the end of the reign when none of their friends were willing to help them survive illness and humiliation abroad. The magic lamp is the narrator of the story and in this book, reviews two contemporary Iranian dictators and is going to tell the story of their fall and homelessness for the adolescents.
The book is divided into two parts; one is about Reza Shah’s exile to Africa and the other, about the Shah’s flight to Egypt and other countries. Mohammad Reza Shah is said to have suffered a miserable life in his last couple of years. The book has kind of depicted those days.
Book Expert:
It was a kind of curiosity or else, I do not know. I wanted to go to the Sadabad Palace after thirty-seven years and see what happened to Reza Khan’s son this time and why he was so worried and thought that he had hit the wall and had to pack up and go.
But as the events unfolded, this time the departure of the son was unlike his father, that is, the order was not issued from above. It was said that Reza Khan had to submit his throne to his son and go to a distant place.
But Mohammad Reza Shah was in big trouble. Perhaps he had to surrender the throne which Reza Khan had taken over via coup d’état and bullying, to the people who were launching a revolution and get lost.
