Robab-e Rumi is a musical research on all Jalāl ad-Dīn Muhammad Balkhī’s (also known as Rumi and Molavi) works of verse and prose; the book studies the music in all the dimensions of Rumi’s works and thoughts directly and independently for the first time in the history of the research on Rumi. It is authored in five chapters. Even though the world “Robab” is the name of a musical instrument, it is the symbol of music in Molavi’s works here. Rumi is his epithet and western people are more familiar with it. The compound “Robab-e Rumi” is selected for the delicate pun in it. In the preface, the author describes Rumi’s musical system as the internal music (originative growth: guiding movement, enthusiastic growth) and external music (music in his discourse and works and it is in practice based on instrumentology, rhythmology, knowing Maqams and his understanding of music).
