Book About:
This book, in the first place, is not a
historical novel, but it possesses numerous
properties that leads the author’s new
work towards historical novels. To further
explore the issue, we can refer to the signs
in the text, almost many of which are
adapted from historical novel elements.
If historical events of Yazd and the
surrounding area are omitted from the
novel, then its main structure will collapse,
and it will no longer be possible to expect
its fragmented stories to make a single
narrative.
Perhaps one of the main reasons of this
is the central theme of the novel which is
based on historical events of Yazd; i.e. the
subject of Islamic Revolution and its roots
in Yazd, which sometimes spread wider and
even reach the late Qajar period. However,
the main events take place during the rule
of Pahlavi regime, especially Pahlavi II,
that result in the formation of the chain
of events in the city of Yazd.
Seven chapters of this novel have one
narrator who appears to narrate his own
story. But in fact he tells the story of a
city; a city that has experienced numerous
events in the present century and has
witnessed the emergence of different
people in the administration of the city
in various historical periods. And in the
meantime, there have been fighters who
fought to get rid of the dictatorship and
suffered hardships.
