Sociolinguistics: an introduction, as the title says, is an attempt to introduce the new trends and research lines to the speakers of Persian, as well as scholars and researchers doing empirical studies on Persian. In doing so, the author first establishes the relationship between society and language and their mutual influence on each other in this new and modern world of fast evolving societies. The major topics of interest in modern sociolinguists are therefore covered in the first sections of the book. In the final section, because of the importance of the methodological procedures, the author describes in details data collection and analyses procedures through giving clear examples from the literature and his own researches.
