The present study attempts to answer the questions and ambiguities that exist in the reflection of Zoroastrianism in Ferdowsi's Shahnameh. Other issues that will be explored include the sources used in the Shahnameh and the extent of changes and modifications to its contents. This work examines the extent to which Ferdowsi's information is based on Zoroastrian realities, in what cases Zoroastrian elements have conformed to Islam, and what parts of Ferdowsi's information are incorrect

Dr. Kolsoum Ghazanfari is a professor of history at the University of Tehran who received his doctorate in history from The University of Goettingen. He conducts research on ancient Iran, ancient religions and the Shahnameh.
