A young girl, who loves to read, goes to a stock bookstore and among the many books, finds a diary journal. She takes it home and begins reading. The journal belongs to a boy in Abadan, south of Iran, in the years of war between Iran and Iraq. He tells the story of a friend, who has given him the key to their own house to keep it until their return. Mr. Zaal, the owner of the bookstore, and the young boy with the diary, is still waiting for the return of his neighbour. In those years of youth and war, Mr.Zaal was in love with the neighbour’s daughter, Fariba. But fariba never loved him back. Zaal had a friend, called Latif, who Fariba loved. In War, Latif lost his two legs. Latif’s sister, Latifeh was in love with Zaal. However, Latif’s family left Abadan in time of war. The girl decides to start a blog, called keychain, in hope of finding the people of the diary and putting an end to their unfinished love stories. Fariba, who now resides in Dubai and is married, comments in the blog. Latifeh too comments the blog, after its being viral on the internet. And then, Dorna, the young girl, decides to turn the blog over to them to write their own stories.
