Book About:

Majid Ghaderi (born 1966 in Tehran, Iran) is a professor of Economic Geology and Geochemistry at Tarbiat Modares University in Iran. He received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. from Shahid Beheshti University, Iran in 1989 and 1992 respectively and a Ph.D. from the Australian National University in 1998. Together with his students and research associates, he has made important contributions to the understanding of magmatic-hydrothermal ore deposits including Cu, Au, REE and other critical metals. These contributions have appeared in almost 100 refereed journal articles. The book on Porphyry Copper Deposits (PCDs) of Iran is the result of his almost 30 years of experience on this type of ore deposit, starting with his M.Sc. thesis on the Sungun porphyry Cu-Mo deposit in NW Iran. This book has benefitted much from the help of two Economic Geology Ph.D. graduates of Tarbiat Modares University, namely Dr. Narges Yasami and Dr. Mina Boveiri Konari. Increased knowledge on the PCDs of Iran over the years has led to the rapid development of research on this type of deposit by exploration and mining companies as well as the many academic and research centers across the country. This book is devoted to the general concept of PCDs and the characteristics of these deposits in the various structural zones of Iran such as Urumieh-Dokhtar, Arasbaran, Tarom and Lut. Every effort has been made to address the main contents comprehensively and to include figures and tables in order to focus readers on geological field observations, research and analytical experiments and allow a better understanding of the text. Location, time and structures impacting these deposits in Iran have been considered for use in future exploration problems. The application of geochemical and geophysical exploration, satellite imagery surveys and computational models for PCDs has been emphasized using examples.
