Vocabulary is one of the most important components of any language to the extent that in some languages there is a close relation between the concepts of word and language and the terms are used interchangeably. So important is the vocabulary in language teaching and learning that little information can be transmitted without knowing grammar, but no information can be exchanged without knowing the words. In fact, vocabulary is one of the main pillars of language proficiency and it plays the most important role in speaking, listening, reading, and writing a language. Given the importance of vocabulary in language learning and the lack of appropriate resources to familiarize teachers with new methods of teaching Persian, we decided to publish this volume; it is organized in eight chapters in which the nature and different aspects of vocabulary, the principles, techniques, classroom activities, and tests of vocabulary are presented in detail.
